- Dachshunds have been owned by many famous people, including artists Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol, as well as Queen Victoria, who helped popularize the breed in England.
- Dachshunds were originally bred to scent, chase, and flush out burrow-dwelling animals like badgers and rabbits. Their name comes from the German words 'Dachs' (badger) and 'Hund' (dog). They have a surprisingly loud bark for their size.
