- The Denison barb was only scientifically described in 1865, but became globally popular in the aquarium trade more than a century later, leading to its rapid population decline in the wild.
- Denison barbs can swim in synchronized schools, creating dazzling displays of color in the water. They are sometimes called 'torpedo barbs' due to their slender, streamlined bodies. Their vibrant coloration intensifies with proper diet and water quality.
