- Desert Locust swarms have been reported to destroy enough crops in a day to feed 35,000 people.
- A single Desert Locust swarm can cover hundreds of square kilometers and contain billions of individuals. These locusts can change their color and behavior dramatically depending on whether they are solitary or swarming. They are able to fly continuously for up to 17 hours when migrating.
