- Despite spending much of its life buried underground, the Eastern Banjo Frog can rapidly emerge and breed in temporary pools that form after heavy rainfall.
- The Eastern Banjo Frog is famous for its loud, musical call that can be heard for great distances after rain. It uses its strong hind legs for powerful digging, often burrowing deep underground to avoid harsh conditions. Its tadpoles are among the largest of any Australian frog species.
