- The Eastern Gray Kangaroo is so prevalent in some regions that its population sometimes exceeds that of humans in Australia.
- A female eastern grey can simultaneously support an embryo in diapause, a tiny joey attached to one teat, and a larger joey at foot on another — producing two different compositions of milk from the two teats at the same time. Fighting males lock forearms and rock back on the tail to deliver a two-footed kick with the hind claws, which is the actual weapon; the "boxing" is largely grappling to set it up. Cornered kangaroos have been recorded backing into deep water and attempting to drown a pursuing dog, holding it under with the forelimbs. Their large ears are moved independently to track sound while they graze with the head down.
