- The Eastern Quoll was once common on mainland Australia but became extinct there by the early 1960s; today, wild populations are found only in Tasmania.
- Eastern Quolls are known for their agility and keen sense of smell, which helps them hunt effectively at night. They can climb trees and sometimes scavenge for food from human settlements. Unlike some other marsupials, females have a pouch that opens to the rear.
