- Despite its tiny size, the Emerald Ash Borer is considered one of the most destructive forest pests ever introduced to North America.
- The Emerald Ash Borer can be identified by its bright, metallic green color and is often more easily found by the damage it causes than by spotting the beetle itself. It has very few natural predators in North America, which has contributed to its rapid spread. The larvae create distinctive S-shaped tunnels under the bark of ash trees.
