- Emerald Catfish can gulp atmospheric air from the waterβs surface, allowing them to survive in low-oxygen environments.
- Emerald Catfish use their sensitive barbels to detect food particles hidden in the substrate. When startled, they can release a mild toxin from their pectoral fins as a defense mechanism against predators. They are sometimes mistakenly called Brochis splendens, but are now classified as Corydoras splendens.
