- The Etruscan shrew is so lightweight that it can run across the surface of dry leaves without making a sound, making it almost invisible to predators.
- The Etruscan shrew has an incredibly fast heart rate, sometimes exceeding 1,500 beats per minute. It consumes more food relative to its body weight than nearly any other mammal. Despite being so small, it displays complex hunting behaviors to capture its prey.
