- Hedgehogs can hibernate for several months during cold winters, lowering their body temperature to match the environment and significantly slowing their metabolism.
- Hedgehogs have around 5,000 to 7,000 spines on their back, which are shed and replaced over time. They communicate through a variety of sounds, including snuffles, grunts, and even purring. Hedgehogs are resistant to many toxins and can eat some poisonous prey without harm.
