- A single honey bee visits up to 5,000 flowers in one day while foraging for nectar and pollen.
- The waggle dance encodes direction by angle and distance by duration — a symbolic language performed in the dark on a vertical comb. The colony holds its brood nest near 35°C year-round by shivering to heat and fanning water to cool. A single worker bee makes about one twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in her whole life. Workers change jobs as they age: nurse, builder, guard, then forager.
