European Sardine
Sardina pilchardus

Did you know?
- A single sardine shoal can contain millions of fish, forming a moving mass that stretches for several kilometers.
- Sardines are named after the Italian island of Sardinia, where they were once found in large numbers. They communicate and navigate in schools by reflecting light off their scales, making the whole group shimmer underwater. Sardines are one of the richest sources of omega-3 fatty acids, making them highly nutritious for both marine predators and humans.
