- Fangtooths can survive at pressures over 200 times greater than at sea level, thanks to their specially adapted bodies.
- Fangtooths have the largest teeth proportionate to body size of any fish in the ocean. Juveniles look dramatically different from adults, lacking the famous fangs and having longer heads with larger eyes. Despite their terrifying teeth, fangtooths are harmless to humans.
