- Despite their plant-like appearance, Feather Stars are actually animals closely related to sea stars and sea urchins.
- Feather Stars can detach and regrow their arms if threatened by predators. Unlike most echinoderms, they are capable of swimming by rhythmically waving their arms. Some species form commensal relationships with small crustaceans and fish that seek shelter among their arms.
