- Fire Skinks are capable of regenerating their tails after shedding them, though the new tail is often less vibrant and differently shaped than the original.
- Fire Skinks can shed their tails as a defense mechanism to escape predators. Despite their vibrant colors, they are quite shy and prefer to hide under debris. Their scales are especially iridescent, reflecting light in a way that makes them appear to glow.
