- Despite being native to Southeast Asia, the Flat-tailed House Gecko has established populations in the Americas and Pacific islands through accidental transport in cargo shipments.
- Flat-tailed House Geckos can drop their tails as a defense mechanism, and the tail will continue to wriggle to distract predators. Their specialized toe pads allow them to run up vertical surfaces, even glass. When threatened, they may emit soft chirping sounds to deter intruders.
