- Fossas are the only predators on Madagascar capable of preying regularly on adult lemurs, giving them a crucial role in the island's ecosystem.
- The fossa can leap between trees with remarkable agility thanks to its semi-retractable claws and long tail. It is an elusive, solitary animal, making sightings in the wild particularly rare. Despite their cat-like look, fossas are more closely related to mongooses than to felines.
