Despite its origins in the early 1900s, the German Longhair was only officially recognized as a distinct breed in the 21st century.
The German Longhair was almost lost after World War II and was only revived through dedicated breeding programs. Unlike Persians, German Longhairs have a less extreme facial structure, promoting better overall health. Their coats come in a wide variety of colors and patterns.
