- Despite their ghostly name, Ghost Knifefish are not albino; their name comes from their pale, ethereal coloration and nocturnal habits.
- Ghost Knifefish can produce weak electrical pulses to sense their surroundings and communicate with one another. Unlike most fish, they swim equally well forwards and backwards thanks to their continuous undulating fin. Their bodies lack scales, which makes them sensitive to water quality changes.
