- Despite their size, giant armadillos are rarely seen in the wild due to their secretive, nocturnal habits.
- Giant armadillos have up to 100 teeth, more than any other terrestrial mammal, and their long claws can grow over 20 centimeters. They are expert diggers, able to excavate deep burrows in minutes, which also provide shelter for many other animal species.
