- Despite their large size and striking appearance, giant leaf insects are so well-camouflaged that they are rarely seen by predators or even by humans in their natural habitat.
- Giant leaf insects can sway back and forth to mimic the movement of real leaves in the wind. Females are much larger than males and are often mistaken for plant leaves even up close. They lay eggs that also resemble seeds or plant debris, adding another layer to their camouflage.
