- Despite their name, Giant Ramshorn Apple Snails are not closely related to true ramshorn snails; their shell shape simply resembles that of ramshorns.
- Giant Ramshorn Apple Snails can breathe both air and water thanks to a specialized lung and gill system. Their voracious appetite makes them excellent for controlling algae in aquariums, but can also lead to rapid plant depletion. They lay large, gelatinous egg masses that are easy to spot on underwater surfaces.
