- Almost everything known about giant squid comes from specimens washed ashore or found in the stomachs of sperm whales.
- Giant squid have the largest eyes in the animal kingdom, measuring up to 27 cm (11 in) across. They can shoot jets of ink to escape predators like sperm whales. Their tentacles can regenerate if lost in battles.
