- Despite their beauty, Giant Swallowtail caterpillars are sometimes considered pests in commercial citrus orchards due to their appetite for citrus leaves.
- Giant Swallowtails have a unique flight pattern that appears almost erratic, making them difficult for predators to catch. Their caterpillars can emit a foul-smelling chemical from an organ called the osmeterium to deter attackers.
