Did you know?
- The giant trevally is one of the few fish species that has been seen intentionally hunting and catching birds in mid-air.
- The Aldabra bird-hunting trevally succeed on roughly one in five attempts, a hit rate comparable to many specialist raptors. Adults commonly turn near-black when excited or spawning, a rapid colour shift that fly anglers use to read a fish's mood. Giant trevally have been observed using sharks as beaters, keeping station beside a reef shark and taking whatever it startles into the open.
