- Male Giant Water Bugs in some species carry their eggs on their backs until they hatch, offering them protection and aeration.
- Giant Water Bugs are sometimes called 'toe-biters' due to their painful bite experienced by waders. They can feign death by remaining motionless when disturbed, a behavior known as thanatosis. In some cultures, these bugs are considered a delicacy and are consumed as food.
