- The Gobi jerboa can close its nostrils to keep out sand during dust storms or while burrowing.
- Gobi jerboas can leap up to 3 meters (nearly 10 feet) in a single bound, an exceptional distance for their small size. Their fur-covered feet allow them to move across hot desert sand without sinking. Unlike many rodents, they rarely drink water, obtaining most of their moisture from the food they eat.
