- Despite their name, golden dorados are not related to the marine mahi-mahi, which is also sometimes called 'dorado.'
- Golden dorados are known for their explosive strikes and the ability to leap several feet out of the water when hooked. They have extremely sharp teeth and a powerful jaw, enabling them to ambush prey with remarkable efficiency. The species is revered in South American fishing culture and features in local legends.
