- In some cultures, Golden Eagles have been trained for traditional hunting, especially in Central Asia, where they help hunt foxes and other animals.
- Kazakh and Kyrgyz eagle hunters fly only females, which are up to half again as heavy as males, and traditionally release them back to the wild after several years to breed. Golden eagles have been recorded stooping at over 240 km/h, and a Scottish study found pairs may hold and defend the same cliff eyrie for more than a century of successive occupants. Their eyesight resolves detail roughly four to eight times better than a human's, largely because of a deep central fovea acting like a built-in telephoto lens.
