- Gouldian Finches sometimes nest in abandoned termite mounds, which provide added protection from predators and temperature extremes.
- Gouldian Finches are known for their vivid coloration, with each individual displaying one of three head colors. Unlike many birds, both males and females are colorful, although males are slightly brighter. Their plumage is so bright it has earned them the nickname 'Rainbow Finch.'
