- The Great Hammerhead Bat is one of the most sexually dimorphic bats in the world, with males often twice the size of females and having a completely different head shape.
- Male Great Hammerhead Bats produce loud, honking calls to attract females during mating season. Their unique hammer-shaped heads act as resonating chambers for these calls. They are among the few bat species whose males and females are dramatically different in appearance (sexual dimorphism).
