Did you know?
- Great white sharks can go weeks between meals by storing energy in their massive livers.
- Despite their fearsome reputation, Great white sharks are not indiscriminate killers; they often take a 'test bite' to identify unfamiliar objects. Interestingly, the Great white's closest relatives include the mako sharks, which are known for their incredible speed, capable of reaching bursts of up to 74 km/h. Another fascinating aspect of their biology is that Great whites can detect a drop of blood in 100 liters of water, thanks to their acute sense of smell. Contrary to popular belief, Great whites do not prey on humans regularly; most attacks are due to curiosity rather than predation.
