- Despite being called 'American chameleons,' Green Anoles are not true chameleons and are only distantly related.
- Green Anoles can rapidly change their skin color in response to mood, temperature, and environment. They possess specialized toe pads that allow them to climb smooth vertical surfaces. Males use their brightly colored throat fan, or dewlap, to communicate with rivals and attract mates.
