- Despite being sold as freshwater fish in pet stores, green spotted puffers actually require brackish or even marine conditions as adults to thrive and remain healthy.
- Green spotted puffers have the remarkable ability to inflate their bodies with water or air when threatened, making themselves appear larger to potential predators. They are also known for their sharp, beak-like teeth, which continuously grow and must be worn down by eating hard-shelled prey. In captivity, they are highly interactive and can even recognize their owners.
