Honey Badger

The honey badger's reputation for fearlessness rests on real anatomy. Its hide is thick, rubbery and remarkably loose β loose enough that a badger seized by the scruff can rotate almost freely inside its own skin and turn on the attacker, which blunts the usual advantage of a laβ¦
Did you know?
- Despite their name, honey badgers are not closely related to true badgers but are the only species in their own genus, Mellivora.
- Its skin is so loose that a honey badger grabbed by the neck can twist around inside it and bite back. It has partial resistance to snake venom and can survive bites that would kill similar-sized mammals. Despite the name, honey is only an occasional part of its diet. It is one of the few non-primate mammals observed using tools.
