- Despite their alarming appearance, house centipedes are actually beneficial in homes because they prey on pests like cockroaches, termites, and spiders.
- House centipedes can run up to 0.4 meters per second, making them one of the fastest arthropods relative to body size. Unlike many centipedes, they have compound eyes, giving them relatively good vision. Their 15 pairs of long, banded legs allow them to move rapidly in a characteristic undulating motion.
