- Unlike most gulls, the Ivory Gull's diet can include the droppings of seals and whales, which provide vital nutrients in the nutrient-sparse Arctic.
- Ivory Gulls are known for their almost entirely white plumage, which provides excellent camouflage against the Arctic ice. They are one of the few gulls that breed exclusively in the high Arctic regions, relying heavily on sea ice for both nesting and feeding. These gulls are opportunistic feeders, often trailing polar bears to feed on leftover carcasses.
