- The Jamaican boa is the only large native predator remaining on Jamaica, playing a vital role in controlling local rodent and bird populations.
- Jamaican boas are excellent climbers and often hunt in trees at night. They use constriction to subdue their prey, which includes birds, rodents, and occasionally bats. Females give birth to live young rather than laying eggs, which is unusual among snakes.
