- There are fewer than 80 Javan Rhinoceroses left in the world, all living in a single forest in Indonesia.
- Javan rhinos have only one horn, unlike some rhino species which have two. They are excellent swimmers and often wallow in mud to cool down and avoid parasites. The entire surviving population is found in just one protected area, making it highly vulnerable to natural disasters.
