- Despite their size and powerful appearance, King Vultures are completely silent, lacking a syrinx and only able to make low croaking or hissing sounds.
- King Vultures have exceptional eyesight, allowing them to spot carrion from great heights. They often arrive first at carcasses and use their powerful beaks to tear through tough hides, making food accessible for other scavengers. Their bright, multicolored heads are unique among vultures and play a role in social signaling.
