- Klinodon fossils have contributed to our understanding of early vertebrate evolution, especially the development of protective body armor.
- Klinodon is only known from fossil records, making it a window into Earth's distant past. Its bony armor helped protect it from predators in Devonian waters. Klinodon, like other ostracoderms, had no true jaws, relying instead on a specialized mouth for filter feeding.
