- Komodo dragons have venom glands that produce toxic proteins, making their bites both infectious and venomous.
- Komodo dragons can consume up to 80% of their body weight in a single meal, thanks to their highly flexible jaws and expandable stomachs. Unlike many other reptiles, they have a relatively high metabolic rate, which supports their active hunting lifestyle. Female Komodo dragons are capable of parthenogenesis, a form of asexual reproduction, allowing them to produce offspring without fertilization in the absence of males. This trait may be an evolutionary adaptation to their isolated island habitats, where mates are not always available.
