- Despite their intimidating size and appearance, Lace Monitors are shy and will usually flee from humans rather than confront them.
- Lace Monitors can climb vertical tree trunks with ease, thanks to their sharp claws and strong limbs. They sometimes raid bird nests for eggs and young, and are known to use their long, forked tongues to detect scents in the air. When threatened, they may hiss loudly and lash with their powerful tails.
