- Unlike many reef fish, the leaf scorpionfish uses its wide pectoral fins to 'walk' along the substrate, rather than swimming actively.
- The leaf scorpionfish sheds its skin every few weeks to remove parasites and maintain camouflage. It often rocks back and forth to mimic a drifting leaf, enhancing its disguise. Although venomous, its sting is not considered dangerous to humans but is effective against potential predators.
