- Despite their elaborate appearance, leafy seadragons are poor swimmers and rely almost entirely on camouflage to evade predators.
- Leafy seadragons are one of the best-camouflaged animals in the ocean, making them extremely difficult to spot. Males carry the eggs on their tails until they hatch, a unique reproductive trait. Unlike seahorses, leafy seadragons cannot grasp objects with their tails.
