- In rural parts of South America, Lesser Grisons are sometimes tamed and used to control rodent pests, much like ferrets in Europe.
- Lesser Grisons emit a strong musky odor from their anal glands when threatened. They are also capable swimmers and climbers, often using these skills to hunt or evade danger. Unlike many mustelids, they are sometimes active during the day, especially in undisturbed areas.
