Euchoreutes naso

Did you know?
- Despite looking mouse-like, the long-eared jerboa is more closely related to gerbils than to mice or rats.
- Its Latin name means "good dancer with a nose", a reference to the pig-like snout and the bounding gait. Unlike most jerboas it is a specialist insect-eater rather than a seed-eater, which is unusual for a desert rodent. The 2007 ZSL footage was the first film of the species in the wild and remains one of the few sequences of it in existence.
