- Long-tailed Planigales can survive in flood-prone environments by seeking refuge in deep soil cracks until the water recedes.
- The Long-tailed Planigale has the flattest head-to-body ratio of any mammal, allowing it to slip through cracks only 3 mm wide. It is so small that it can perch comfortably on a human fingertip. Despite its size, it is a fierce predator, often tackling prey larger than itself.
