- Unlike most bats, Madagascar Flying Foxes do not echolocate—instead, they navigate and find food using their excellent vision and sense of smell.
- The Madagascar Flying Fox can have a wingspan of up to 1.25 meters, making it one of the largest bats in Africa. Unlike many other bats, it does not use echolocation but relies on keen eyesight and sense of smell. These bats play a key role in maintaining the health of Madagascar's forests by dispersing seeds over wide areas.
