Despite their nickname 'dolphinfish,' mahi-mahi are not related to dolphins (the mammals) at all.
Mahi-mahi can change colors rapidly when excited or stressed, often turning a brilliant golden-yellow. They are among the fastest-growing fish in the world, sometimes reaching full size in just a few years. Mahi-mahi are known for their spectacular leaps when hooked, making them a favorite among sport fishers.
